About the Role:
The Economic Development & Marketing Coordinator supports Chamber economic initiatives and leads the Chamber’s marketing and communications strategy. The role focuses on building partnerships, supporting business growth, and enhancing the Chamber’s visibility through strategic outreach and advocacy
Key Responsibilities
Economic Development:
– Support the Executive Director in advancing the Chamber’s strategic economic development initiatives, including workforce housing and business advocacy.
– Assist in identifying and pursuing grant opportunities to fund Chamber projects.
– Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to build partnerships that enhance local economic development initiatives.
Marketing and Communications:
– Develop and execute marketing plans to promote Chamber programs, events, and member benefits.
– Manage and update the Chamber’s website, social media channels, and newsletters to engage the community.
– Collaborate with the Events Manger to create promotional content for Chamber initiatives and events.
– Lead the ‘Work In Fernie’ workforce attraction website and marketing efforts to support workforce development.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support Chamber facilities, including the Fernie Information Centre and 2nd Edition Coworking space, with tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, assisting visitors and members, and other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications
Essential:
– Demonstrated experience in marketing, communications, or economic development.
– Strong background in partnership development and community engagement.
– Strong writing and content creation skills.
– Experience with social media and basic web design.
– Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
– Comfortable working collaboratively and independently.
Desirable:
– Experience in press release and grant writing.
– Proficiency with WordPress, MailChimp, and social media tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Linktree).
– Understanding of economic development principles.
– Completed studies in business, marketing, communications, or related fields.
Wage and Benefits for Both Positions:
– Full-time, year-round positions (40 hours/week).
– $22 – $24/hr Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
