Machine Operator needed for work on the Coal Creek Camping & RV project in Fernie, BC
Start: May 5th until late August/Early September
Full Time: Monday to Friday
Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating excavators (3-30 tonne) and bobcats in construction, landscaping, or similar industries.
- Relevant certifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Skills:
- Technical proficiency in operating both a 3-30 tonne excavator and a bobcat safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of machinery maintenance, including checking oil, fuel, hydraulics, and performing basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans to assist in job planning.
- Safety awareness: Familiarity with safety protocols and standards, ensuring safe operation in varying site conditions.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, especially in outdoor settings, and adapt to changing site environments.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects when necessary (e.g., parts, tools, or equipment).
- Good physical health and stamina to operate heavy machinery for extended periods.
- Capable of working in confined spaces when required (e.g., in trenches or other restricted areas).
- Responsibilities:
- Safely operate machinery (excavator, bobcat) to perform tasks such as digging, grading, lifting, moving materials, and site preparation.
- Perform routine maintenance checks (oil, fuel, hydraulic levels, and basic troubleshooting).
- Ensure proper cleanliness and condition of machines, including cleaning and greasing when necessary.
- Communicate with team members, supervisors, and other operators to ensure smooth workflow.
- Adhere to safety guidelines, ensuring all work is completed in a safe manner.
- Report machine issues or breakdowns to the supervisor or maintenance team for further inspection or repair.
