About the Role:
The Membership Engagement & Event Coordinator combines membership growth and retention with the planning and execution of key Chamber events. This public-facing role requires a motivated individual with strong communication skills, community engagement experience, and expertise in event coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Membership Engagement:
– Serve as the primary contact for Chamber members, building relationships to enhance satisfaction and retention.
– Develop and implement strategies for membership growth and renewals.
– Manage the membership database for accurate records, renewals and reporting.
– Oversee invoicing, payment processing, and basic accounting tasks related to memberships.
Event Planning:
– Lead the organization of signature Chamber events, including the Business Excellence Awards, Chamber Golf Tournament, Shop Local Holiday Kickoff, Banter Business & Beer networking events, and Griz Days support
– Handle event logistics, including securing venues, coordinating sponsorships, managing schedules, and collaborating on marketing with the Marketing Coordinator.
– Organize member-exclusive workshops, training and networking programs to add value and build community ties.
– Propose and develop new revenue-generating or community-focused event initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support Chamber facilities, including the Fernie Visitor Information Centre and 2nd Edition Coworking space, with tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, assisting visitors and members, and other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
Essential:
– Proven experience in membership management, event planning, or related fields.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills.
– Exceptional customer service and follow-up skills.
– Self-motivated with excellent time management and prioritization abilities.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Desirable:
– Experience with membership management software (e.g., ChamberMaster/GrowthZone).
– Experience with social media and basic web design.
– Completed studies in business, event planning, marketing, or related fields.
Wage and Benefits:
– Full-time, year-round position (40 hours/week).
– $22 – $24/hr Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
